It's that time again, Plant Parents. April showers might bring May flowers, but April also brought us something else: another top-selling Plant of the Month!
April was all about the Olive Tree, stealing the spotlight and winning hearts with its timeless appeal and Mediterranean, minimalistic vibe. This beauty isn't just a tree either—it's also a symbol of peace, wisdom, and a darn good piece of decor!
Why We Love It:
Olive Trees, known for their delicious fruits and oils, have roots deeply embedded in history and culture. From the hillsides of Greece to the shores of Italy, Olive Trees have graced landscapes for thousands of years, reaching heights of up to 30 feet in optimal conditions. These amigos aren't just the perfect decoration for inside your home either, they also love a spot in the garden! Elevate your patio game in the summer by bringing your Olive Tree outside to drink in some rays. Just be sure to bring it back inside before the chilly months set in!
Care Tips for Success:
Light: Give your Olive Tree all the sunshine it can handle. Indoors, find a bright spot near a window, and outdoors, go for full-on sunshine mode. Olive trees thrive in warmth, ideally between 15-27°C, and need plenty of sunlight. Shield from frost in cooler months. They don't need extra humidity, so aim for around 40% indoors.
Water: Let the top 1-2 inches of soil dry before watering deeply. They're drought-tolerant, so avoid overwatering. Reduce watering in dormant seasons.
Soil: Choose a well-draining pot with ample holes to avoid waterlogging. Mix potting soil with sand to mimic their natural environment. Repot every few years for soil refresh and root space.
Pruning: Regularly prune your Olive Tree to shape it and keep it to the size you like. Trim dead branches and pinch back new growth for bushiness.
