How to care for a Geo Plant

Geogenanthus ciliatus originally grows on the forest floors of Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru.

The Geo plant is not particularly air purifying.

The Geo plant doesn't like to dry out! Be sure to give it water on a regular basis to keep it moist, while allowing the excess to drain out completely. These plants also require high humidity (60-90% during the day). If you'd like to mist your Geo plant, be sure to do it in the morning so the water can evaporate throughout the day. Placing a humidifier nearby also helps!

These plants do well in low to medium light conditions. A shady spot in your home, or somewhere with dappled sunlight is perfect for it! Keep in mind, the colouration of the leaves depends on receiving sunlight—so try not to set it and forget it.

You can fertilize your Geo plant every 2 weeks in the spring and summer with a balanced fertilizer.

The Geo plant has a robust root system and may need repotting on a yearly basis.

You can trim your Geo plant for a bushier look in late winter.

This plant is unfortunately susceptible to pests such as mealybugs, thrips, and spider mites. You can spray the plant with neem oil as a preventative measure, and use rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab to rid it of pests. This plant is also sensitive to low temperatures and low humidity.
