Hypoestes' natural environment is humid and moist. They like their soil to be moist, only the top 1/2 inch of the soil should be allowed to dry between waterings. Humidity can also be boosted by misting the leaves and using a pebble tray or humidifier.
-
Hypoestes prefer bright, indirect light. Too much light can cause the colours in the foliage to fade.
-
Hypoestes need regular fertilizing and shoud be fertilized using an all purpose houseplant fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring, summer and fall).
-
Hypoestes don't need to be repotted very often, only every 3-5 years or when they become root bound.
-
Hypoestes can be pruned regularly to help encourage them to grow bushier instead of taller.

Keep your eyes out for scale, whiteflies, mealy bugs, and aphids.
