Caring for Meyer Lemon Tree

Watering

Water when the soil has dried out 20–30%. These citrus amigos love consistent moisture while growing fruit, but hate sitting in soggy soil. Always empty the drainage saucer!

Light and Placement

Major sun lover! This amigo craves 6 to 8 hours of direct, bright sunlight every single day. Place it right in front of your sunniest south- or west-facing window, or move it outdoors in the warm summer months. 

Nutrition

These heavy eaters need energy! Feed monthly during spring and summer with a high-nitrogen, citrus-specific fertilizer packed with trace minerals like iron and zinc. Hold off in late fall and winter.

Repotting

Repot every 2–3 years in spring when you notice growth slowing down or roots crowding the pot. Use a light, well-draining citrus or cactus potting soil and a container just 1–2 inches larger.

Pruning and Flowering

Trim in late winter to shape the canopy, remove leggy branches, and encourage bushy growth. Expect clusters of heavenly-scented white flowers that transform into sweet, thin-skinned lemons!
