Watering

Water when the soil has dried out 70–80% (or completely dry between waterings). These succulent amigos store tons of water in their thick leaves, so they'd much rather deal with a little drought than soggy roots!

Light and Placement

Sun worshipers alert! These amigos love bright, direct light and will happily soak up sunshine near a south- or west-facing window. Plenty of sun will even give their leaf tips a gorgeous reddish blush!

Nutrition

Keep it light! Feed once every month or two during spring and summer with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer. Skip the food completely in fall and winter when they're resting.

Repotting

These slow growers love snug roots, so repotting is rarely needed! Upgrade every 2–3 years in spring using a heavy, fast-draining cactus and succulent mix to keep top-heavy stems sturdy.

Pruning and Flowering

Trim leggy branches in early spring to encourage a thick, tree-like, bonsai shape. In bright conditions during winter, mature amigos might reward you with clusters of cute, star-shaped white or light pink flowers!

Root rot is their biggest foe, so avoid overwatering at all costs! Keep a lookout for pesky mealybugs hiding under the fleshy leaves, but otherwise, this resilient amigo is practically indestructible!
