Origin

Native to the lush, tropical island of Mo'orea in French Polynesia, though now naturalized across tropical regions worldwide.

Air Purifying

These iconic trailing amigos are absolute air-purifying champions! They excel at scrubbing indoor air of toxins like formaldehyde, benzene, and xylene while boosting oxygen.

Toxicity

Toxic to cats and dogs due to insoluble calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause mouth irritation, drooling, and swallowing difficulty if chewed. Keep this trailing amigo hanging high out of reach!

Caring for Gold Pothos

Watering

Water when the top 50% of the soil has dried out. These resilient amigos are super forgiving if you forget a watering, but they definitely don't like sitting in soggy soil.

Light and Placement

These amigos are super versatile! They thrive best in medium to bright, indirect light to keep those gorgeous golden specks bright, but they can happily adapt to low-light spaces as well. Avoid harsh direct sun to prevent leaf scorching. 

Nutrition

Feed once a month during the spring and summer growing season using a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Skip the snacks in fall and winter.

REpotting

Repot every 1–2 years in spring when you notice roots crowding the pot or trailing vines slowing their growth. Pick a container 1–2 inches larger with airy, well-draining potting mix.

Pruning and Flowering

Indoor flowering is practically unheard of for these amigos, as they stay in their juvenile trailing phase. Prune anytime by snipping long vines right above a leaf node to control length, encourage bushier top growth, or propagate new baby plants in water!

Illness

Virtually indestructible! The biggest threat is root rot from overwatering. Keep an eye out for occasional uninvited pests like mealybugs or spider mites, but overall this amigo is as tough as they come.
