Epipremnum Aureum 'Manjula'

Renowned for its artfully painted foliage and broad, wavy contours, Epipremnum aureum 'Manjula' is a show-stopping cultivar developed by the University of Florida. Loved for its heart-shaped leaves with gently ruffled edges, this coveted pothos displays a breathtaking, painterly mosaic of creamy white, soft silver, mint green, and deep emerald. Because no two leaves share the same pattern, every vine offers a captivating, one-of-a-kind visual display. Unusually compact, easy-going, and air-purifying, it trails gracefully from hanging baskets, cascades off desk edges, or climbs upward on moss poles to bring effortless tropical charm to bright indoor rooms.

About Epipremnum Aureum 'Manjula'

Origin

A patented cultivar developed at the University of Florida, bred from Epipremnum aureum native to French Polynesia. It naturally inherits a climbing tropical habit, using aerial roots to trail or climb moist surfaces.

Air Purifying

Excellent at scrubbing indoor air by filtering airborne toxins like formaldehyde, benzene, xylene, and toluene. It also actively transpires moisture to help increase humidity in dry indoor rooms.

Toxicity

Toxic to cats and dogs due to insoluble calcium oxalate crystals throughout its stems and leaves. Ingestion leads to oral burning, intense drooling, swelling of the mouth and tongue, and vomiting.

Caring for Epipremnum Aureum 'Manjula'

Watering

Water thoroughly once the top 50% of the soil feels completely dry to the touch. Because it is highly prone to root rot, never allow the pot to sit in standing water or soggy soil.

Light and Placement

Requires bright, indirect sunlight to maintain its rich white and mint variegation without losing color contrast. Protect strictly from harsh direct sun, which will easily burn the white patches on its wavy leaves.

Nutrition

Apply a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half-strength once a month during spring and summer. Skip fertilizing throughout fall and winter while growth naturally slows down.

Repotting

Repot every 1 to 2 years in spring using a chunky, well-draining potting mixture rich in perlite and orchid bark. Choose a container only 1 to 2 inches larger with clear drainage holes.

Pruning and Flowering

Trim back long trailing vines in spring to encourage fuller, bushier growth near the top of the pot. While it rarely flowers indoors, its foliage will grow larger if trained up a moss pole.

Epipremnum Aureum 'Manjula' SOS

Illness

Susceptible to mealybugs and scale insects hiding under its wavy, cupped leaf undersides. Overwatering rapidly causes root rot and unsightly brown, mushy patches on the white variegated areas.
