Watering

Water when the soil has dried out 75–100% (completely dry). Its thick, tightly curled succulent leaves hold onto moisture for a long time, so this drought-tolerant amigo thrives on tough love and strictly hates soggy roots—when in doubt, wait a few extra days!

Light and Placement

Thrives in bright, indirect light with a soft splash of direct morning sun! Bright light keeps those crinkled ropes growing tight and full, and it's the secret trigger to get this amigo to produce its famous, sweet-scented flower clusters.

Nutrition

Feed once a month during spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant or bloom-boosting fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Skip the snacks during fall and winter when growth slows down.

Repotting

This amigo loves a tight squeeze! It grows slowly and actually blooms best when snug in its pot, so repot only every 3–4 years in spring. Use an extra airy, fast-draining potting mix (packed with orchid bark and perlite) in a pot just 1 inch larger.

Pruning and Flowering

Produces stunning clusters of star-shaped, sweet-smelling pink and white porcelain flowers! Golden rule: never cut off the flower spurs (peduncles) after blooms fade, as new flowers will re-bloom from those exact same spots every season.
