How to care for Alvin

The Dieffenbachia 'Vesuvius' is a bold tropical houseplant admired for its dramatic foliage, featuring deep green leaves splashed and speckled with vibrant lime and creamy variegation. Its lush, upright growth gives it a full, jungle-like appearance that works beautifully as a statement plant indoors. ‘Vesuvius’ thrives in bright, indirect light, which helps maintain its vivid colouring, though it can also adapt to medium light conditions. Water when the top inch or two of soil feels dry, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, as soggy roots can lead to rot. Like many dieffenbachias, it enjoys warm temperatures and moderate humidity, making it especially happy in bright bathrooms or cozy living spaces. Keep in mind that all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested, so it’s best placed out of reach of pets and small children.
