Persimmon Izu is one of the earliest ripening non-astringent Asian persimmons, typically ready for harvest in late September to early October. It produces medium-sized, bright orange fruit that is sweet and can be enjoyed while still firm and crisp. The tree tends to be slightly less vigorous and more compact than Fuyu types, making it a good option for smaller spaces. Plant in full sun with well-draining soil, water consistently through summer while fruit is developing, and prune in late winter while dormant to maintain an open structure.
