How to care for Vern

Opuntia Bunny Ears is a charming, compact cactus known for its distinctive pad-like stems that resemble soft bunny ears, though they are covered in tiny glochids (so not actually touch-friendly). Its sculptural, branching form makes it a playful yet architectural accent for sunny indoor spots or warm outdoor patios. This desert native thrives in very bright light, including several hours of direct sun, which helps maintain its compact growth and healthy shape. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as it is highly drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering. Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix to prevent root rot and mimic its natural arid habitat. It prefers warm temperatures between 18–32°C and should be protected from frost and prolonged cold exposure. With minimal care and plenty of sunlight, Bunny Ears cactus rewards you with quirky form and easygoing desert charm year-round.
