Gideon's survival guide

Massive, heart-shaped leaves of rich, velvety dark green accented by stark white-to-pinkish veins allow Gideon to bring pure botanical luxury and grand sophistication to your floor space! Keeping his opulent foliage plush and healthy requires placing him in a warm spot with bright, indirect sunlight, safely protected from harsh, leaf-scorching rays. Unlike climbing vines, this terrestrial Colombian icon crawls horizontally across the ground, thriving best in a wide rectangular planter where his creeping rhizome can stretch out over a chunky, well-draining soil mix kept lightly moist. Maintaining ambient humidity and letting the top inch of soil dry out between drinks allows Gideon to inspect his domain with royal, velvet elegance!

How to care for Gideon

Bright, indirect light

Philodendrons thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sun to prevent leaf burn, but ensure they get enough light for healthy growth.

Average water

Keep soil slightly moist, but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry between waterings, especially in winter.
