The Consolea Rubescens, commonly known as the Road Kill Cactus, is the perfect beginner plant for the plant enthusiast! With its flat paddles and bumpy texture, it is a great option for those wanting a unique easy care plant. The Road Kill Cactus requires water only once the soil has completely dried. Try potting it in a well draining cactus mix for best results! If you notice any shriveling, that’s your sign to give it a drink. These amigos are extremely prone to overwatering, so if you notice yellow or mushy leaves, be sure to let the soil completely dry. It doesn’t need any extra humidity, making it a great low maintenance plant. Place it in bright direct light, or indirect sunlight (a south or west facing window)—he will produce beautiful, orange blooms to thank you!

How to care for Ethelbert

Bright, direct light

Cacti thrive in bright light, and can tolerate indirect light. Place in a spot with ample sunlight. If you notice browning on the side where the light is, pull your cactus back a few feet.

Very little water

Cacti prefer infrequent watering, be sure to allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
